Light the Night: in the business of beating blood cancer

Icon Cancer Care

Each year Light the Night gives communities the opportunity to come together and raise funds to help beat blood cancer

Making these events a reality for over 37,000 people across the nation are our Light the Night partners. In 2016 together we have raised an amazing $1,931,815 to help blood cancer patients and their families and fund vital research.

Thank you to our partners including principal partner, Bridgestone Australia who this year, celebrated 30 years of partnership with the Leukaemia FLTN_071016_9_156oundation; national key partners Janssen and Celgene and national logistics partner Toll.

This year we’ve seen a significant increase in local corporate support up and down the state.

Communities came together, with councils continuing their involvement with Cairns, Townsville, Livingstone Shire, Sunshine Coast and Ipswich supporting their local events alongside community organisations including the Maroochy RSL, combined Lions Clubs of Rockhampton and Hervey Bay RSL.

We saw many new faces this year with BOQ Castletown and Wilmar Sugar in Townsville, Keppel Tyre & Mechanical in Yeppoon, Paronella Park in Cairns, Hotel Jen and Muscillo Romano in Brisbane, Power Tynan from Toowoomba and Atkins Health on the Gold Coast. Bundaberg Sugarland Shoppingtown, Ulton, Stewart & Sons Steel and Bundaberg Radiology also joined the sponsorship team for the first time alongside long-time supporter Mater Hospital Bundaberg.

Corporate AV in Bundaberg, Parry NQ, Thrifty and Aggreko in Townsville were just a few that supported with in-kind services.

Icon Cancer Care once again sponsored the Brisbane event and close to 100 employees joined walks across the state.

Power Tynan, Icon Cancer Care and Bendigo Bank were just a few who also spoke as a blue lantern ambassadors. Adam Flor from Stewart & Sons Steel spoke as a white ambassador on behalf of his five-year-old daughter Ella who recently rug the bell at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital to mark the end of her acute lymphoblastic leukaemia treatment.

Without your support these wonderful community events would not be possible._MG_5618copy
