Dr Anna Williamson

Dr Williamson joined the Leukaemia Foundation in 2002 to establish its National Research Program and implement standardised services, disease education and psychosocial support programs across Australia.

A science graduate from Melbourne University, Anna trained initially as a secondary science and biology teacher. She went on to complete postgraduate research degrees in Australia, the Netherlands and Germany, specialising in mycology, plant pathology and biological control of plant pathogens.

After returning to Australia, she worked for 10 years with the CSIRO as a research scientist and later, research manager. Anna has overseen the expansion of the Foundation’s national Support Services team from 10 to 40 people, to include cancer and transplant nurses, social workers and professional counsellors. She represents the Foundation on several national and international initiatives.
