These DVDs aim to empower patients and their families by providing accurate up-to-date information and education regarding the diagnosis, management and treatment of each disease.

A guide for patients and their families. The DVD is presented by psychologist John Boyle and explores the emotional journey experienced when leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood disorder is diagnosed. (Duration 30 minutes, filmed 2007)
Why Charlie Brown, why?
Using animation from the Charlie Brown series, this DVD explores a leukaemia diagnosis, when one of Charlie Brown’s friends is diagnosed. This is a useful tool for children to understand their diagnosis.

Books

The Leukaemia Foundation has a written resource library that contains books that can either be loaned or sent to you to keep. Living with Leukaemia and related disorders, by Dr Pam McGrath, is a book which examines and discusses the experiences and obstacles faced when diagnosed with lymphoma. (Published 2001)
Leukaemia and Beyond, compiled by Steve Mitchell, is a collection of stories from past patients who share their practical ways of dealing with leukaemia, as well as honest insight into how leukaemia affected their emotions and relationships. (Published 2004)
100 questions and answers about lymphoma, by Dr Peter Holman, Jodi Garrett (RN) and William Jansen. Reprinted by Australian drug company Roche (distributors of Mabthera®) this book gives practical answers to questions about treatment options, post-treatment quality of life, sources of support and much more. (Reprinted 2008)
Eight Seasons, by Sandra Evans Powerful and honest story told through the eyes of a mother, about her daughter’s strength and courage when faced with a leukaemia diagnosis. (Published 2009)
Joe has leukaemia Written especially for children aged 4-7 and a worthwhile aid for parents and carers, this book is designed to help make the diagnosis of leukaemia and likely treatment paths easier to understand for young children. The fictional story of Joe, who is diagnosed with leukaemia and goes through treatment, is written in simple language, using terminology and bright imagery that young children can relate to.
