If you’ve been diagnosed with a blood cancer and live in regional, rural or remote areas of Queensland, you will have to travel to Brisbane or Townsville at short notice to begin medical treatment.
To relieve the stress and financial burden of attending important medical appointments, we offer free accommodation to regional and rural patients and their families. In 2013/14, and thanks to our supporters, we were able to provide a home for more than 630 families.
Patient and family accommodation
We currently help patients and their families by offering four purpose-built accommodation centres, including four in Brisbane and one in Townsville.
All of our current accommodation is very close to treating hospitals and staffed by highly trained and experienced health professionals. The accommodation centres provide blood cancer patients and their families with a modern and self-contained home-away-from-home.
